Persian Cemetery in Istanbul

Istanbul Persian Cemetery is located in Uskudar district, in the Asian side of the city. The cemetery created in ca. 1850 when the ecenomic ties of Persia (Iran) and Ottomans were growing.

The cemetery is still in use.

The Persian composer Samin Baghcheban (1925 - 2008) is among those who has been buried here.

Reza Shah and Atatürk @ an Istanbul Avenue

In Presidential Palace district of Istanbul various photos of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk have been presented. The photos mostly have been taken during official meetings of the first Turkish President with world leaders. One of them is an historical photo of him with Reza Shah, the king of Persia (Iran) from 1925 to 1941.

Reza Shah and Atatürk were the pioneer of modernism in their homelands at the same time. They tried to remove traditional religious problems from Turkish and Persian societies and go forward.

Many people in Turkey and Persia consider Atatürk  and Reza Shah as the father of modern state.

Istanbul : the City of Cats

In Europe and the US, dogs are mostly happy and playful but in Istanbul they are sleepy and depress!
The reason is quite clear: the city has been officially occupied by the cats!
They are everywhere and even there are certain places that dogs are not allowed to enter!
People of Istanbul are so kind with cats and dogs which is admirable.
