Princes' Gates : Destroying the Background View...

Today I was walking in downtown Toronto, from Union Station, alongside of the lake, to visit the Princes' Gates.
When I reached the gates I got fascinated by the architecture of the gates but at the same time quite upset; a tall ugly building is under contraction behind the Canada's Exhibition Place which has destroyed the background view of the gates a lot.
It's more surprising when we find out "Princes' Gates" is registered under Ontario Heritage Act.

I am not sure if someone inside Canada - or Toronto in particular - has protested the constructions which is destroying the historical sight of the city.
Hopefully someone will do something!

IRAN @ 1972 Munich Olympics Games

A rare photo of Persian delegation at the 1972 Olympics Games in Munich, West Germany.
The photo has been taken by Ali Ghashghayi and has been originally published in the Persian-language weekly TAMASHA.

I just receive the magazine from Tehran and though it's a wonderful idea to share this great photo with the visitors of this blog.
For 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Iran (Persia) sent a delegation of 50 competitors who participated in 33 events in 7 sports. Two competitors in the football tournament did not take part in any matches.

King Bahram and His Harpist on a Persian Pottery Piece

King Bahram and his harpist Azadeh, depicted on a 13th-century Persian pottery piece, are now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This artwork is inspired by the stories from Persia's national epic, the "Shahnameh" by Ferdowsi.

Persian Cemetery in Istanbul

Istanbul Persian Cemetery is located in Uskudar district, in the Asian side of the city. The cemetery created in ca. 1850 when the ecenomic ties of Persia (Iran) and Ottomans were growing.

The cemetery is still in use.
The Persian composer Samin Baghcheban (1925 - 2008) is among those who has been buried here.

Princess Fatemeh Pahlavi : A Rare Photo

Recently I have discovered a quite rare photo of the Persian princess Fatemeh Pahlavi.
Fatemeh (also spelled Fatimeh) was Reza Shah Pahlavi's 10th child and half-sister of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Persia (Iran).
Princess Fatemeh was born in Tehran in 1928 and died in 1987 in London at the age of 58.
The death cause seems cancer. Daily Telegraph was among the first Western media which reported the news but did not give the cause of death or say exactly when or where she died.

FURY: Killing from the beginning until the end !

I just watched FURY.
From the beginning until the end of the film they kill each other!

And similar to other Hollywood movies, the Americans are hero! 4-5 of them kill 200-300 Germans :)

But of course it's an entertaining movie; from technical point of view; + a wonderful music.
